Augusto Bozzi was an Italian designer who created works for the firm of Saporiti. Except for the following images, I know nothing else of this designer. However, his designs are prolific and easily obtainable. The following is a quote from the Saporiti website.

“The ’50s. The reconstruction.

The ‘Mayor’ chair.

The Saporiti of this period is the company of quality and originality.

Not only in the design field but above all in graphics and product presentation, Saporiti develops its particular style.

It is a style made of simplicity and seriousness, but made also of innovation in the use of new materials.

In this period Sergio Saporiti, who just founded the company, works with many architects and designers, but particularly with Mr. Augusto Bozzi.

The ‘Mayor’ chair, together with the ‘Fujiama’ and ‘Etere’ chairs, will be one of the great success of the Saporiti story. It is clearly evident the influence of Scandinavian design, but with a special touch of italian elegance in the use of finishing and material.”

Bozzi’s designs feature thin metal structures for support with molded, upholstered seats for various chairs. Obviously, his commercial success came through Saporiti and that success was in designing chairs. Though mainly a variation on a theme, his chairs do exhibit originality, elegance and a lightweight appearance.
